Venice Itineraries "out-of-the-way"
Dear Guest,
here we are, after your summer holidays, with some suggestions for your next short break in our city. This time, we are thinking about an “ out-of-the-way “ itinerary with a lot of historical and artistic elements to see not so far from St Mark’s area.
For a 10-15 minute walk from our hotel, you can take into consideration Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo where you will admire the Verrocchio’s monument of Colleoni and visit La Scuola Grande di San Marco. From that area you will also enjoy a wonderful large view of the lagoon, which goes from San Michele Island (the cemetery) to Murano and to the mainland of Venice. But….just a few steps from there, you’ll discover a cosy secret corner: the Corte Botera, that not everyone knows about.
Because of its conformation and its acoustics, Goldoni – the famous Venetian dramatist and writer born in 1707 – chose this courtyard to rehearse his comedies. In our days Hugo Pratt, - a comic-strip writer -, considered in his imagination the Corte Botera, as the famous Corte Sconta or Arcana, the starting point of one of the most beautiful Corto Maltese’s adventures. This writer arrived in Venice when he was a boy and though he was born in Rimini, he always tried to perceive the real soul of this city.
For the safety of the houses within the Corte Botera, a gate was installed not a long time ago, but if you are lucky, you can ask one of the residents to open it and let you wander the courtyard and maybe… indulge you also some curiosities.
We hope that this enticed you to plan your next stay in Venice. In case you’d want to directly reserve through our website, you can take advantage of an additional 7% reduction using our discount code sat03 (second page – box “special code”) ALSO APPLICABLE TO PROMOS AND SPECIAL RATES.
Many thanks for your kind attention and our best regards,
